The Ghost of Monk's Island Part Seven Ordeal by Fire

The biggest wildfire in North American history is brought to life, revealing what it means to us today, when the people of America are still figuring out how their federal government should manage and protect federal lands. It also explores how 21st century frontier technologies and people are coping with each other and with the ancient cycles of fire in a harsh yet beautiful land.

This short documentary is part of the Canada Carries On series. The secret winter manoeuvres of the British Army's Lovat Scouts took place in the Canadian Rockies during the winters of 1944 and 1945. In combined operations with the Canadian Army, these elite mountain commandos tested themselves and their equipment in temperatures of -50°F.

Heroes Preston Stormer, Mark Surge, William Furno, and Natalie Breez are outgunned by Fire Lord and his gang of Fire Villains and Surge makes a sacrifice to save the others. After they escape, Stormer, Furno, and Breez are upgraded to more powerful 2.0 versions with the “upgrade” technique and then go back to save Surge. Fire Lord captures Stormer and tells them of the Fire Villains’ history as mining bots. Corrupted by power, the Fire Villains sought to become more and more powerful. Stormer, Furno, and Breez then capture the Fire Villains with the help of Nathan Evo and Julius Nex.

Mark Waldman (David Wenham) is an Australian policeman who volunteers for the United Nations mission in East Timor. Put in charge of the Civilian Police at the UN base in Nunura, he meets Julie Fortin (Isabelle Blais), a Canadian policewoman on her first overseas mission, and Ismenio Soares (Alex Tilman), the young Timorese translator assigned to work with the unit. Mark and Julie are unarmed and emotionally unprepared for the brutal reality of Timor, while Ismenio is cynical about whether the UN can prevent what seems an inevitable, bloody end to the process. Against growing intimidation and violence from the Indonesians and East Timorese militia, they work to get the Timorese registered to vote. Ismenio's fears are realised when the vote goes pro-independence, the country is set alight and the UN evacuates. Mark and Julie are forced to abandon Ismenio and his family to a nightmarish fate at the hands of the Indonesian military and its murderous militias.

Set in New York, the serial features the street-wise Ángel, who treats life as a game he plays to win. He tangles with the power-hungry Martín, who is engaged to a stunning, feisty lawyer named Manuela. She decides to defend Ángel, even though Martín wants to destroy him. Neither of the men know that Ángel is Martín's own son. Our hero learns that love is the only key to survival.
